Tips & Techniques

3D unzip and convert many zipped files at one time

Open the 3D Organizer.

Click on the "Search" icon at the top. Don't type anything in either of the search boxes, but click on the arrow in the "look in" box and scroll down to click on "browse".

A pop up will appear and you can find the file where you downloaded the designs or the folder of designs you want to convert.

Click on that folder so it appears in the "look in" window.

Then at the bottom of that search screen, check "more advanced options" and make sure click on “all embroidery files”and make sure that "zip files" is checked too.

Then click on "search". All of those zipped files will show what is in them.

Then you can hold down the "control key and A key" to "highlight them" .

Then click on the "convert" icon on the toolbar (two pointed arrow) and a pop up will appear and find the file where you want those designs to be unzipped to and you can choose the format you want them converted to. I unzip and convert to the same file the zipped ones were in already.

Click on the “folders”icon on the toolbar and click on “desktop”and click on the “+”in front of the C drive and click on that same folder where the designs were stored.

Now, you will see all the zipped squares on the right side are listed first. Hold down the “control key”and click on each one to highlight all of them. Then click on the “X”on the toolbar to delete them.

Click on “view, refresh”. The zipped pictures are gone and only the unzipped designs are left. At this point, you may want to click on any formats you don’t want and delete them too.

Then click on “view, refresh”so you can see exactly what is left in that file.

Click on the “Worksheet”icon on the toolbar to close that panel and get an expanded “folder”list.

You may see that on the left side, it still shows the zipped files. Click on any other folder and then click on the folder where the designs are and those zipped files should disappear.

Now, you can do your organizing of the designs by clicking on each design and drag it across the screen to the category where you really want it.

Note: Click on the design. Then hold your “shift key”and left click and drag the design into the category you want it to be in. This “REMOVES”it from the original folder and puts it into the new folder.

This is much nicer for you because you will know what designs were already transferred into their new folder.

If you just click and drag it to the new folder, it will leave that design in the original folder and copy it to the new folder.
