Small Spring Hoop

The outer ring of the small spring hoop doesn't have markings on it except for two little dots on the back side that I felt were the half way mark of the circle. So, I took a permanent marking pen and made a mark on the back of the hoop and brought it around to the front side so I would know where
those dots were on the front side. I used these as the vertical markings.

Unfortunately, the ridge on the part that attaches to the embroidery unit is not the horizontal center.

I brought up my customizing and placed any design on the screen with the 100X100 hoop size. Then I printed that out so I would have the grid as a template. If you already have any design for that size hoop printed out, just use it.

Then I laid my hoop over the print out grid with those markings I made on the vertical line. Watching the grid lines, make sure that the same amount of grid was on the top, bottom, left and right. Just measure carefully.

Once you know the hoop is centered perfectly, you now can use those horizontal grid lines to make a permanent marking with a pen on the hoop where those grid lines meet the hoop on top, bottom and sides.

When I use this hoop, I only hoop stabilizer. Then I lay a ruler over theb top of the hoop and draw lines right on my stabilizer connecting those markings on the hoop both horizontally and vertically.

I use my plastic template for that hoop to make markings on the fabric that I want to embroider on. I spray the stabilizer with KK2000. Then attach the hoop to the embroidery unit.

Slide the garment under the foot and turn the hand wheel towards you so the needle will penetrate the fabric in the center where the two lines meet. This will hold the fabric in
place so you can match the markings on the stabilizer with the markings on the fabric and smooth the fabric out on top of the stabilizer. Since it will be a very small design, I really
don't find it necessary to baste the fabric to the stabilizer.
