Paper Clip "Thread Guide" for Designer 1

Viking sells thread racks and they come with a guide that fits into the slot in the center edge of the cover that closes over the spools of thread. When you lift the cover, you will see that little slot.

My husband made my thread rack which holds 18 spools of thread and it sits behind the machine. I thought up this paper clip idea as a thread guide so I could feed my thread from the rack to the guide and then thread as usual.

I twist out a large paper clip and use the fattest rounded end. I cut it about 1" from the rounded end. Then I spread the prongs a bit and fit it into that slot. You may have to squeeze the prongs to fit it, but then it will be very secure in the slot.
