Installing the Q Foot

Sensor Q Foot

See page 195 in workbook

When you start to attach the Q foot, bring it in from the back of the shank and then when you see that the needle is pointing towards the hole in the foot, manually turn the handwheel towards you so the needle goes down to the hole in the throat plate. (The needle screw is too high up to let the arm of the foot rest on top of it, so you must turn the handwheel so the needle screw goes down lower).

The arm of the foot should lean on top of the needle screw. Try to push the foot from underneath and to the right and the holes in the ankle and the shank should match up. Make sure as you screw it on that the needle is centered in the hole of the foot. The screw must be one with a flat end.
(Some people find it easier to remove the needle first, but even without the needle, turn the handwheel so that the shank goes a bit lower to make installation easier).

You must now inform the machine that you have installed the Q foot. Press on "set menu" then "more" then "more" and you will see the Q foot listed and turn it on. Then when you are done using it, go back to "set" and turn it off.

This foot can be used with the embroidery unit to stitch out any design for a much nicer stitchout of the design and the outline. If you purchase the straight stitch plate, it is even nicer. It is NOT limited to embroidery with batting or on terry or plush fabric. (if you use the “straight stitch plate”, then make sure you touch the “set menu” again and touch “more”until you see the “stitch width safety”and turn it ON.)

This will prevent the machine from sewing any zig zag stitches and breaking a needle.

So, when you remove the plate, make sure you also turn it back OFF.

When you do free motion with this foot, use only the V menu straight stitch.

Warning: Sometimes the “set pin”in the Q foot works out on the left side after much use. This causes the foot itself to move to the right and the needle may hit the side of the
foot instead of in the center of the foot and break. Picture shows the pin in the circle area.

This is the left side of the foot where the pins might break through the plastic. You can see just a tad of it showing in the little dot. It should be flat against the plastic.

I pushed it back in again so it would be flat to the side of the foot and I dropped hot glue around it to keep it in. If it keeps working out after use, take it back to the dealer for replacement.
