Blind Hem

Choose the proper blind hem stitch for either woven or knit.

I usually serge my edges first, but if you don’t have a serger, then I recommend either doing a zig zag on the raw edge or turning it under ¼” and pressing it down.

Then turn under the size of hem you want. I usually do 1 ½”. I have the serged edge facing me. I Put the point of the pin about ¼” from the serged or folded edge and pin is facing the bottom of the pants.

Then turn the hem under so only the ¼” sticks out.

Attach the D foot and place the fabric under the foot so the folded edge of the hem lays against the left protrusion of D foot.

The stitching will start on the edge that sticks out and the zig zag stitch that holds the hem will stitch a tiny stitch in the fold. When you are done, you will see only those tiny stitches.

Here’s how I fold the pants legs.
