Backup of Designs on CD or DVD

Put your CD in the CD writer drive and notice that I chose the highlighted one.

Click on OK.

Click on Make a Data disk.

Click on "next".

Click on "Add files and folders".

Find the folder that contains the designs and click to highlight the ones you want to write to the CD. This picture is showing my main "My designs" folder and all the sub folders under it because I want to make a back up of all of my designs.

If you only wanted to make a copy of one folder of designs, then just put that folder in the window and highlight all of the designs in that folder.

Click on "ADD".

I have too many to fit on one CD, so I would only highlight part of the files and then do another CD for more of the folders. If you choose too many, a screen will pop up and tell you to choose less of them.

If you use a DVD, they will probably all fit on one.

You may get this warning.

Click on Ok after you make sure you close all unnecessary folders.

When it is done, it will ask if you want another copy. If you click on "make another", then it will copy the same designs again on another CD that you insert. But, if you want to copy different files, then click on "done" and insert a new disk to put different designs on it.

When I am done, I put the CD in the CD drive and "open the explorer" and click on that drive to read the CD. I should see all the folders that it copied to the disk.

But, I also want to make sure that the designs will open in the program, so I click on one of the folders and I double click on one of the designs to see if my Embroidery program will open and show the design on the screen.

I label the disk and make sure I date it.
