Tips & Techniques

4D Pro Users ONLY:

4D Pro contains both the basic 4D Embroidery and the 4D Embroidery EXTRA.

4D Embroidery does NOT have the EDIT tab.

4D Embroidery EXTRA does have the EDIT tab.

If you double click on a design in either 4D Organizer or using the “explorer” and the design opens on a 4D Embroidery screen that doesn’t have the “edit tab” at the lower right side, it has actually opened into the wrong program.

So, to fix the problem, you need to associate the design formats with the 4D Embroidery Extra instead of the 4D Embroidery.

Hold down the Windows key on the lower left side of the keyboard and touch the E key to open the “explorer”. Find a folder of designs and open it and then “right click” on one of the designs.

Click on “properties” and the next screen will show what program it opens with.

Click on “change” and then look at the list and see if you find two different 4 D programs. You want the one that says “4D Embroidery EXTRA” and click on that one.

Be sure you check the box on the lower left side to always use that program to open this format.

Then choose any different formats such as HUS, VIP, VP3 or any of the other sewing formats that you want to open with 4D Extra and do the same thing.
