My Sewing Room

After my daughters left for college, my husband Mike disassembled the family room downstairs and fixed up a sewing room for me. He made the cutting table and all the thread racks and closets. I also use the bedroom set we purchased when we got married, and I recently purchased corner computer tables. Mike cut a hole in one of the computer tables for the Designer 1 and installed an electric lift. I purchased Iris plastic cabinets to go underneath. I love it because it has so much counter space. My machines are the Designer SE, the Viking 1+, the 936 serger and a blind hem machine.

Iris cabinets can be purchased at Office Max and Office Depot. I wait for sales and usually pay under $20.00 for them.

They are all the same height of 26 1/2" with the wheels attached so they fit well under my computer tables. Some are 13" wide with 6 drawers. I use these for my threads and my bobbins and scissors and rippers, sewing machine and serger books, etc.

I like the shallow drawers for many of my sewing supplies that I need by the machines and I can easily find what I want.

I also have some that are 13" wide but with 3 deeper drawers that I keep leftover stabilizers that I saved from hoopings to be used when doing deco stitching. I also have drawers for extra rolls of stabilizers such as "Stitch n Ditch" and "Aqua Magic" and sample fabric, etc.

Then I have one that is 26" wide that I keep my serger threads and heavier deco threads and my interfacings in.
