GINGERBREAD MAN
I usually make this Gingerbread Man as a rice bag
to use as a warming bag, but it can also be stuffed and used as
a doll. You won't need the lining for just a doll.

SUPPLIES:
Dark brown felt (1 yd. makes at least 4, depending
on width of felt)
Dark brown cotton for lining
Fusible webbing
such as Heat n Bond or Wonder Under or Steam a Seam strips
Embroidery thread
red/heart and mouth
black/eyes and nose
brown/finishing edges
Bobbin wound with the dark brown embroidery thread
for finishing edges
Bobbin thread on a bobbin for decorative stitching
and embroiderered heart and name
1-1/2 Cups rice (uncooked)
Pattern: For the real size of this gingerbread
man, you should enlarge it to 125%. Cut out 2 gingerbread men from
the felt and 2 from the lining fabric for each gingerbread man.
I cut 1/2" strips of some kind of fusible webbing or Steam a Seam
and apply them around the edges of the felt enough so the lining
can be pressed in place. Felt stretches especially when moist, so
the lining will help with that problem

Use Customizing to add the child's name under the
heart (E Card 1) and save it as a design. Hoop stabilizer, use a
ruler to draw horizonal and vertical lines on the hooped stabilizer.
Draw placement lines on the felt for the heart. Spray the stabilizer
with embroidery adhesive and match placement lines on the felt to
the placement lines on the stabilizer. Embroider the design.
Use stitch D26 (a wavy border stitch) to embroider
the frosting look on the lines of the hands and feet. Use stitch
A 14 (satin stitch) to stitch the mouth in red. Do the curve first
then do the ends.
Designer 1, the border stitch is H 16 and the
satin stitch is C 30.
Rose, the border stitch will be 35 and the satin stitch is
38. SW 2.0

Starting on the right top of the head, sew this stitch
so that the sideway stitches go over the edge of the fabric. Stitch
all around the man until you reach the left top of the head and
leave an opening to pour in the rice (a funnel works well). After
adding the rice, then close the opening with the same stitch.
If you have other brands of sewing machines, use similar
stitches. The stitching used to sew this together is actually a
utility stitch that makes a seam and overcasts the edge.
Microwave on medium for 2 minutes as a warming bag.
