3-D Daisies Table Runner

Close-up
I used the daisy from E Card #15 (Design 10, Position
2) for this runner.
I used Customizing to place 3 flowers on the screen.
The center one was normal size and I shrunk the side ones by 10%.
Then I placed my leaves under the side daisies and combined all
of the designs and saved them as "Daisies 3."
I wanted an open type leaf and since I didn't have
any that I liked, I looked through my flower designs and discovered
the leaf I used. I edited it out of the design with an editing program,
such as Stitch Editor or Embird.
I cut the fabric 2" wider and 2" longer than I wanted
the finished runner to be. This way, I had room to stitch my border
and cut away the excess when finished.
I folded the fabric in half lengthwise and made a
crease so I would know exactly where to place the center of the
big daisy. I made sure that I used my template to make placement
marks exactly the same distance from each end of the runner. The
center of the big daisy was 10" from where I wanted my outside border
to be. This gave me room to stitch out my stems.
I stitched out some free standing daisies to place
under those to look 3-dimensional. I hooped two layers of poly organza
and since I needed 6 of these, I used the 100 X 170 hoop size in
Customizing to accommodate all of them so I could stitch them all
together. I stitched out two at a reduction of 10% and 4 at the
reduction of 15% so they would be a bit smaller than the daisies
stitched on the runner. I saved as Daisies 6.
After stitching them out and while still in the hoop,
I used my stencil burner to cut them out and seal the edges. Then
I placed them on the runner where I thought they looked best. I
dropped the feed dogs and used a small zig zag stitch in the center
of the daisies with the same yellow color to attach them to the
runner.
For the stems, I used the leafy decorative stitch.
For the D1 and D2, it is stitch D11. For the #1 and 1+, it is D15.
On the Rose, it is stitch 23. I used a wash away marking pen to
draw my curved stems from under the flowers. I just started under
the center 3 D flower and touched the "Stop" button to finish the
last stitch.
The outside border was the triple scalloped border
stitch. I like my outside borders to be very dense, so I reduced
the SL to .2 and set elongate to 5 to make the border easier to
cut around. After you stitch the border, turn the fabric over and
use Fray Block or some other sealant on the outer edges of the scallop.
When dry, trim close to the stitching.
Border Stitch:
Des.1 is H26
1+ is on the E cassette #20 -
The Rose would have to use 35 which is a wavy border.
I used the entredeux stitch along the outside border
by using the side of the presser foot as a guide against the inner
edges of the border.
Entredeux:
D1 is D7
1+ is D7
Rose will have to use 20
I used the same leafy design a presser foot away
from the entredeux stitching. Then I placed the edge of the presser
foot again as a guide to stitch another row of entredeux to border
in the leafy designs.
